Byron Bay is one of the most idillic surf spots from the East Coast of Australia. It has a beautiful and calm vibe where everyone can relax, and of course: surf. Besides the ultimate chill vibe there are plenty of things to do in this little town.

Surfing

One of my favourite hobbies of all time is surfing. I’m doing it on vacation almost every year a couple of times, but never really got the hang of it since that was the only time a year I did it. 
It was no difference in Byron 😉 but it’s a great place to go do a little surf camp. I wouldn’t recommend going surfing alone in Australia at all if you’re not very experienced. I’d say go with a guide at all times unless you’re an experienced surfer. The tides are intense.

Lighthouse walk

Before you get excited I want you to remember one thing: there is a danger of brown snakes in this area. I didn’t know and was lucky enough not to encounter one, but beware of that fact that they do live there. Make sure you know what to do when you encounter a venomous snake.

Let’s move on to the fun part. The lighthouse walk is beautiful! Make sure to put on your walking shoes since it’s a not a light little walk. You have to walk up the mountain / hill to see the beautiful view. 

You can start in the center of Byron Bay and to the right if you stand in front of the beach. Walk straight ahead until you see a hill and go left again. There are also little signs or you can just ‘Google Maps’- it if you’re not sure where to go. On the contrary of some other parts of the country: you have plenty of service in Byron Bay 🙂

Eating and drinking

Health is a big thing in Byron Bay. There are plenty of little cafe’s where you can eat the Acai bowl of your dreams. Besides healthy food there are also a lot of spots you can go out at night. I made a little list for you with my best experiences in Byron Bay.
